Tankyrases maintain telomere length by adding TTAGGG repeats to the chromosome ends. This inhibitor prevents the addition of these repeats and has been shown to inhibit cancer cell growth. The molecule also increases the sensitivity of cancer cells to other chemotherapeutic drugs, such as doxorubicin and cisplatin, by enhancing their effects.
