It also has been found to inhibit the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in vitro. The antiviral activity of N-Methyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydroquinolin-8-amine may be due to its ability to prevent viral proteins from binding to the chemokine receptor or other cellular proteins.
