Tert-Butyl 3-(3-aminophenyl)pyrrolidine-1-carboxylate (tBAP) is a chemical compound that is used as an analytical reagent to identify the presence of group P2 phosphonates. This reagent can be used in a variety of applications, such as detection of transfer reactions in DNA and protein synthesis, or potential biomarkers for fetal bovine serum. Tert-Butyl 3-(3-aminophenyl)pyrrolidine-1-carboxylate has been shown to have neurotoxic effects in vivo and in vitro. It has been shown to cause neuronal death which may be due to its ability to inhibit intracellular calcium release from the endoplasmic reticulum and/or mitochondria.
