Ac-Glu-Ser-Glu-Asn-AMC is an inhibitor of Protein interactions, which are involved in many biological processes. This compound has been shown to be a high affinity ligand for the Activator receptor and is used as a research tool to study the activation of this protein. Ac-Glu-Ser-Glu-Asn-AMC is also an inhibitor of ion channels, which are membrane proteins that control the flow of ions across cell membranes. Acetylcholine receptors (AChR) have been found to be inhibited by Ac-Glu-Ser-Glu-Asn-AMC, but it does not inhibit nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChR).
