Description :

Le monoester de sorbitan, dérivés de poly(oxy-1,2-éthylène), communément connu sous le nom de polysorbate 80, est un tensioactif et émulsifiant non ionique largement utilisé dans les aliments, les produits pharmaceutiques et les cosmétiques. Il est dérivé du sorbitan, un alcool de sucre, et de l'acide stéarique (acide octadécanoïque), avec des chaînes de poly(oxy-1,2-éthylène) fournissant des propriétés hydrophiles. Ce composé se caractérise par sa capacité à réduire la tension superficielle, permettant la stabilisation des émulsions et la solubilisation de substances hydrophobes dans des solutions aqueuses. Il s'agit généralement d'un liquide jaunâtre à ambré avec une odeur douce et il est soluble dans l'eau, les huiles et les solvants organiques. Polysorbate 60 is a polyoxyethylene-polyoxypropylene block copolymer that is composed of two different saturated fatty acid chains. It has been used as a surfactant and stabilizer in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals, foods, cosmetics, and other products. Polysorbate 60 has been shown to inhibit the growth of epidermal cells by binding to epidermal growth factor (EGF) receptors on the cell surface. The effects of polysorbate 60 are also mediated through hydrogen bonding with the EGF receptor. The pharmacokinetic properties of polysorbate 60 have been studied in vitro using human serum. This polymer is used as an excipient in solid dispersions for oral administration and can be administered intravenously or subcutaneously.
