4,6-Diamino-3-iodo-1-(b-D-ribofuranosyl)-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidine is a novel antiviral, modified nucleoside monophosphate. It is an inhibitor of the RNA polymerase and is active against both DNA and RNA viruses. 4,6-Diamino-3-iodo-1-(b-D-ribofuranosyl)-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidine has been shown to have anticancer properties in vitro and in vivo. It also has been shown to be an activator of the enzyme diphosphate kinase.
