Erabutoxin B is a potent neurotoxin, classified as a type of snake venom protein. It is sourced from the venom of the sea snake Laticauda semifasciata, commonly known as the blue-banded sea krait. The mode of action of Erabutoxin B involves its ability to bind to nicotinic acetylcholine receptors at the neuromuscular junction. This binding inhibits the action of acetylcholine, leading to a blockade of synaptic transmission and consequently causing paralysis.
