GPi 688 is a glycogen synthase kinase-3 (GSK-3) inhibitor that has been shown to have a number of therapeutic benefits. It inhibits the activity of GSK-3, which is an enzyme that regulates glycogen synthesis and glucose metabolism in mammals. GPi 688 has been shown to increase the amount of muscle glycogen and improve muscle function in animal models. This drug also has inhibitory properties on other enzymes involved in carbohydrate metabolism, such as phosphofructokinase and phosphoglucomutase. GPi 688 has a safety profile similar to caffeine and is not expected to cause any adverse effects on the heart or central nervous system.
