5-(2,3-Dihydro-1H-inden-5-yl)-5-methylimidazolidine-2,4-dione is a potent and selective activator of the human 5HT6 receptor. It has been shown to promote the release of radiolabeled serotonin from synaptosomes in a dose dependent manner. In addition, it has been shown to inhibit the binding of serotonin to its receptor at concentrations as low as 10 nM. 5-(2,3-Dihydro-1H-inden-5-yl)-5-methylimidazolidine-2,4 dione is also a ligand for the dopamine D1 receptor. This compound has been used in research as a tool for studying ion channels and protein interactions.
