It is metabolized by glucuronidation and has been shown to be a ligand for the benzodiazepine receptor. 2-{[3-chloro-5-(trifluoromethyl)-2-pyridinyl]oxy}aniline binds to lysines in proteins, which inhibits protein synthesis and leads to cell death by proteolysis. This chemical group also inhibits tumor cells by blocking their uptake of glucose and glycolysis, leading to an accumulation of lactate and necrosis. 2-{[3-chloro-5-(trifluoromethyl)-2-pyridinyl]oxy}aniline has been shown to be effective against cancer cells in vitro.
