The orally bioavailable FMPD has demonstrated anti-thrombotic activity in animal models and is being investigated as a potential therapeutic agent for the treatment or prevention of thrombosis. FMPD inhibits thrombin by binding to its active site, preventing it from cleaving fibrinogen and thereby inhibiting clot formation.
