CAS :3-Bromo-4-iodo-1,2-thiazole is a palladium catalyst that can be used in cross-coupling reactions. It is a generalised catalyst that can be used to catalyse the oxidative coupling of terminal olefins. The reaction occurs with the formation of an isothiazole as the major product, which contains two adjacent carbon atoms and one nitrogen atom. The reaction mechanism involves oxidative addition of a palladium complex to an olefin followed by reductive elimination. 3-Bromo-4-iodo-1,2-thiazole can also be used to synthesise various isothiazoles and related compounds.

CAS :(+/-)-4-Benzylazetidin-2-one is an enantiomer of the β-lactam antibiotic azetidinone. It has been synthesized by chemoenzymatic methods and is a racemic mixture of two enantiomers. (+/-)-4-Benzylazetidin-2-one is a lactam with a carboxylic acid substituent in the lactam ring. The chlorides are removed from the molecule by ammonolysis, which produces the amide. This amide reacts with an alkyl group, such as methyl chloride, to produce the lactam ring. The synthesis of (+/-)-4-Benzylazetidin-2-one can be catalyzed by either acidic or basic catalysts.
