This compound was synthesised by reacting 2,4-dimethylthiazole with ethanamine in the presence of thiosemicarbazide. 1-(2-Amino-4-methyl-1,3-thiazol-5-yl)ethanone has an inhibitory effect on cellular growth and drug reactions. The inhibition of bacterial growth may be due to its ability to bind to cytochrome P450 enzymes. Hplc analysis has shown that this compound binds to DNA and RNA molecules in a dose response manner.
