It is also able to react with a variety of other molecules, including peroxides, chlorine gas and bromine gas. 1-Bromo-2,4,6-trimethoxybenzene can form free radicals when exposed to UV radiation and may be used as a ligand for metal ions. 1-Bromo-2,4,6-trimethoxybenzene is also soluble in n-dimethylformamide and carbon tetrachloride.
