The synthesis of H-Val-Met-OH was achieved by reacting 2,5-diaminopentane with formaldehyde in the presence of cellulose acetate as a reaction medium. This process produced a white solid material that was then purified using chromatography. The purity and yield were confirmed by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). In vitro studies showed that H-Val-Met-OH promotes brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) production in healthy Chinese adults. Clinical data also suggest that H-Val-Met-OH has beneficial effects on cognitive function in patients with mild cognitive impairment or Alzheimer's disease.
