It is also used as an ion-pair reagent for the spectrophotometric assay of fexofenadine in pharmaceuticals. It acts as a colorometric pH indicator in the range of 3.8-5.4. Further, it is used in a biochemical assay to determine the presence of calcific deposition by cells of an osteogenic lineage.
