Description :The 6-Fluoro-3-indoxyl-beta-D-galactopyranoside is a powerful antituberculosis drug from the rifamycin class. It is known for its bactericidal activity against tuberculosis infection. By binding to DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, it inhibits bacterial growth, preventing transcription and replication. This drug has been extensively studied and shown to be highly effective using advanced techniques such as the patch-clamp technique on human erythrocytes. It undergoes various metabolic transformations, including hydrolysis by esterases or glucuronidases, oxidation by cytochrome P450 enzymes, reduction by glutathione reductase, or conjugation with glucuronic acid.
