Sodium 1-naphthaleneacetic acid is a sodium salt that can be used as an analytical reagent. It is soluble in water and typically used for the determination of sodium in biological samples. Sodium 1-naphthaleneacetic acid is also used to study protein structure and enzyme activities. It has significant cytotoxicity, which can be determined by fluorescence spectrometry. This chemical compound has been shown to have optimum concentrations at 0.1 M and 2 mM when used with a fluorescence detector. Sodium 1-naphthaleneacetic acid can be used as a chemical pesticide in the treatment of agricultural products or as a preservative, fungicide, or bactericide in food production.
