PKF118-310 is a basic protein that has been shown to have significant cytotoxicity against the human cancer cell line K562. PKF118-310 has been shown to induce apoptosis in these cells by binding to cyclin D2, which is a protein involved in the cell cycle. PKF118-310 also inhibits production of prostaglandin E2 and tumor necrosis factor (TNF), which are important mediators of inflammation. PKF118-310 induces phase II detoxification enzymes such as glutathione reductase, cytochrome P450, and esterases through the activation of transcriptional factors such as NF-κB and AP-1. These enzymes are responsible for metabolizing toxic compounds from the body.
