Description :
2-Methyl-5-oxo-1-cyclopentenyl Propionate is an alkene that has a carboxylic acid group on the end. The carboxylic acid group is also called a carbonyl group. This chemical can be found in animals and is used as a modifier in other chemicals. In this case, it modifies cyclopentenones by adding two methyl groups to them. This chemical is also used to make p-hydroxybenzoic acid, which is found in plants, animals, and humans.
2-Methyl-5-oxo-1-cyclopentenyl Propionate reacts with calcium carbonate to create 2,5 oxo 1 cyclopentenyl propionic acid and carbon dioxide gas.
