Methapyrilene dihydrochloride is an anticancer drug that acts as a kinase inhibitor, preventing the activation of protein kinases that are involved in cancer cell growth and survival. It has been shown to induce apoptosis (cell death) in cancer cells by inhibiting the activity of certain kinases. Methapyrilene dihydrochloride is a potent inhibitor of tumor growth in Chinese hamsters, human tumors, and other animal models. It is also an analog of amphetamine and can be detected in urine tests.
