Description

N-Carbamoylmaleamic acid is a molecule that belongs to the class of aliphatic hydrocarbons. It has a molecular weight of 110.06 and is a colorless liquid with a pungent odor. N-Carbamoylmaleamic acid can be synthesized from maleic anhydride and hydrochloric acid in the presence of esterification catalysts such as aluminum chloride or zinc chloride. The compound forms ester linkages with various carboxylic acids, including acetic, propionic, benzoic, and chloroacetic acids. N-Carbamoylmaleamic acid also reacts with chromatographic packing materials such as silica gel and alumina to form adsorption chromatography resins.
