Description

Ethyl decanoate is a fatty acid ester that is used as a solvent in the production of polyester resins, lubricants, and plasticizers. It has been shown to have antibacterial properties and is effective against bacteria that are resistant to other antibiotics. Ethyl decanoate has been shown to inhibit bacterial growth by disrupting the cell wall synthesis process through its reaction with glycol ethers. The activity index of ethyl decanoate can be determined using a solid phase microextraction technique on anhydrous sodium carbonate and glycol ether. This index can then be used to optimize the sample preparation process for analytical methods such as GC-MS or LC-MS.
