• Description: Butyl octadecanoate is a chemical compound that is used as a solvent in wastewater treatment. It can be synthesized by reacting butanol with octadecanoic acid chloride in the presence of hydrochloric acid and stearate. Butyl octadecanoate has a phase transition temperature of about -4°C, which allows it to be used for winterization, as well as for the production of glycol ethers and fatty acids. This product also reacts with amide to form microcapsules.
