Description

Trimethyl phosphorothioic acid is a chemical that can be used as an experimental model for the study of kidney fibrosis. It has been shown to induce fibrosis in rats by targeting the cells lining the alveolar type II pneumocytes, leading to lung damage. Trimethyl phosphorothioic acid is also known to cause protein synthesis inhibition and protease activity. The concentration of trimethyl phosphorothioic acid required for these effects is dose-dependent. Trimethyl phosphorothioic acid has also been shown to cause skin cell death in vitro and antibody response in vivo, which suggests that it may be used as an experimental model for skin diseases such as psoriasis or lupus erythematosus.
