• Description: Homarylamine is a substituted phenethylamine that is soluble in organic solvents such as chloroform. It has been used to treat opioid-dependent individuals, and may be administered orally or by iontophoresis. The methylphenidate molecule is reconstituted with homarylamine, which inhibits the reuptake of dopamine and norepinephrine, leading to an increase in the concentration of these neurotransmitters in the brain. Homarylamine has also shown to have high affinity for the mu-opioid receptor.
