Description

Dibenzyl phthalate is a solid oral drug that is metabolized to dibenzyl phosphate and then to dibenzyl alcohol. It is used as a cross-linking agent in wastewater treatment and has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of polycarboxylic acid-mediated cross-linking. Dibenzyl phthalate has also been shown to be an effective inhibitor of epoxy hydroxy, which is a water-soluble polymer that is responsible for the formation of high resistance materials, such as rubber. The mechanism of action for this drug has been studied extensively. Activation energies have been determined by studying the effects on fatty acid metabolism, cell signaling pathways, and water vapor. Dibenzyl phthalate has also been shown to inhibit chromatographic science by acting as a hydroxyl group trap in liquid chromatography.
