Description

Ammonium Salicylate is a drug that belongs to the class of salicylic acid. It is used as a topical analgesic and antipyretic, and also has anti-inflammatory properties. Ammonium Salicylate relieves pain by decreasing the production of prostaglandins in the brain. The drug also reduces fever by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in the hypothalamus. Ammonium Salicylate is most commonly found in combination with sodium citrate, which acts as an antacid, neutralizing stomach acidity. This agent may be useful for treating bowel diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease or ulcerative colitis because it can relieve inflammation and reduce bowel motility. Ammonium Salicylate can also be used to treat light emission from aluminium surfaces (e.g., LED displays) by acting as an analog or light emitting substance.
