Description

Euxanthone is a natural compound that has been shown to have neuroprotective effects, including the preservation of mitochondrial membrane potential and neuronal function. Euxanthone is a member of the family of growth factor molecules that includes nerve growth factor (NGF) and brain-derived neurotrophic factors (BDNF). It also inhibits toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) signaling pathways, which are involved in various cellular processes, such as inflammation. In vitro assays have shown that euxanthone does not inhibit atp levels or neuronal cell death induced by malignant brain tumor cells. Euxanthone may act as a neuroprotective agent by stimulating autophagy in neuronal cells.
