Description

3,8,9,10-Tetrahydroxypyrano[3,2-C]Isochromene-2,6-Dione is an anticancer agent that has shown a potential to inhibit the growth of cancer cells. The drug has been shown to suppress tumor cell growth and induce apoptosis in vitro by inhibiting the expression of key enzymes that maintain cellular homeostasis. 3,8,9,10-Tetrahydroxypyrano[3,2-C]Isochromene-2,6-Dione also inhibits the production of ATP and reduces the levels of ATP sensitive K+ channels. These actions lead to a decrease in proton conductance across the mitochondrial membrane and increased intracellular acidity. This drug has also been shown to inhibit histone H3 acetylation and increase levels of ATP in cancer cells.
