Hexahydroxybenzene is a colorless, crystalline solid that has the molecular formula C6H8O6. It is a water-soluble compound and can be used as a nutrient solution for plants. Hexahydroxybenzene is an important cross-linking agent in the production of polycarbonates, which are used in plastic materials such as bottles and eyeglasses. It also reacts with metals to form metal surface complexes, which can be used to remove hydrogen chloride from industrial waste water. The hexahydroxybenzene molecule contains a hydroxy group and two cyclohexane rings, which can react with acidic phs to form acid complexes that are soluble in water.
