Propyl n-octanoate has been shown to have an effect on enzyme activities for fatty acids and target pests such as the methyl ketone reductase in the Japanese beetle or the acetyl coenzyme A carboxylase in plants. It also has a hydrogen fluoride (HF) resistance of 11% at pH 5, which makes it suitable for use as an additive to polymers used in HF resistant coatings.
