Description

3-Hydroxybutyric acid is an organic compound that is found in plants and animal tissues. It is a secondary metabolite of the plant-derived, phytochemical 3-Hydroxybutanoic acid. The chemical structure of 3-Hydroxybutyric acid is a carboxylic acid with a hydroxy group attached to the beta carbon atom. This compound has been used as analytical standards for HPLC, as well as a reference material for screening studies in research and development. 3-Hydroxybutyric acid can also be used as an alternative to L-3-hydroxybutyrate in animal feed formulation.
