Pentadecyl acetate is also used as a frictional lubricant, and has been shown to be thermally stable. This compound is colorless with a sweet odor and can be synthesized from hexadecyl alcohol and propionic acid. Pentadecyl acetate does not dissolve in water and is only slightly soluble in ethanol, ethers, or chloroform.
