Description

tert-Amyl ethyl ether is a chemical substance that belongs to the group of fatty acid esters. It is a reactive, non-polar compound that is insoluble in water and soluble in organic solvents. Tert-Amyl ethyl ether has been shown to have clinical efficacy for the treatment of pain and inflammation by inhibiting the activity of cyclooxygenase type 2. This inhibition prevents the formation of prostaglandins, which are mediators in inflammatory reactions. Tert-Amyl ethyl ether has also been shown to have thermodynamic properties that differ from other fatty acid esters with similar structures, such as loxoprofen sodium.
