Cis-4-tert-butylcyclohexanecarboxylic acid is an organic compound that is used as a solvent. This compound is a monocarboxylic acid with a carbonyl group and a carbon source. Cis-4-tert-butylcyclohexanecarboxylic acid has been shown to have a strong affinity for the pharmacophore of 2-phenylbutyric acid. The stereoisomers of this compound are cis and trans, which have different properties. The cis stereoisomer is more soluble in water than the trans stereoisomer. Cis-4-tert-butylcyclohexanecarboxylic acid can be used as a solvent in titration methods and has been shown to be tolerable at low doses, although it may cause kidney damage at higher doses.
