Description :
(2S)-2-Amino-3-(4-hydroxy-1H-indol-3-yl)propanoic acid is a natural product that may be used as an intermediate in the synthesis of other compounds. It is a substrate for a number of enzymes, including kinases, phosphotransferases, and monooxygenases. This compound has been shown to catalyze the conversion of psilocybin to psilocin, which is involved in the biosynthesis of tryptophan. (2S)-2-Amino-3-(4-hydroxy-1H-indol-3-yl)propanoic acid also acts as a methyltransferase and decarboxylase in fungi.
