Description :
4-(5-Methyl-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl)phenol is a nitroalkane that is used as an antibacterial agent. It inhibits the growth of bacteria by nucleophilic attack on the N7 nitrogen of guanine in DNA and RNA. 4-(5-Methyl-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl)phenol has been shown to be effective against methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and other strains of bacteria.
