Description

Clarithromycin-13CD3 is a macrolide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. It is used in wastewater treatment and biological treatment to inhibit the growth of bacteria. Clarithromycin-13CD3 has been shown to have a potent inhibitory effect on Mycobacterium avium, an acid-fast bacterium that is resistant to many antibiotics. The dry weight of M. avium cells was significantly reduced by this drug, which may be due to its inhibition of protein synthesis.

Clarithromycin-13CD3 is also used in analytical chemistry as a sample preparation reagent for proteins and polypeptides that are difficult to dissolve in organic solvents.
