Description

Dihydrostreptomycin B is an antibiotic that is used to treat infections caused by Gram-negative bacteria. It can be purified from the fermentation broth of Streptomyces griseus using chromatographic methods, such as high-performance liquid chromatography and reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography. This antibiotic is also used for the treatment of tuberculosis and has been shown to have antibacterial activity against many strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Dihydrostreptomycin B binds to bacterial ribosomes and prevents protein synthesis by binding to the 30S subunit of ribosomes. This antibiotic is a member of the aminoglycoside family and has been shown to be effective against Gram-positive bacteria as well.
