Description :
Cycloheptyl formate is an organic compound that is the cyclic ester of propionate. It has been shown to be a good dehydrating agent and can be used as an oxidation catalyst in ring-opening reactions. Cycloheptyl formate can also be used as a catalyst in acetylacetonates, which are molecules composed of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. Cycloheptyl formate is a strong acid catalyst that reacts with hydrochloric acid to produce diacid. The reaction rate of this compound is higher than that of other carboxylic acids.
