Description

3-Benzyl-6-oxa-3-azabicyclo[3.1.0]hexane is an organic compound with the chemical formula CHO. It is a white solid that can be obtained by heating 3-benzyloxycarbonylpropene and potassium hydroxide in a sealed tube at 250°C. This reaction has been shown to give high yields of the desired product with minimal side reactions. The reaction can also be carried out using methanesulfonic acid as catalyst, which is less expensive than m-chloroperbenzoic acid. 3-Benzyl-6-oxa-3-azabicyclo[3.1.0]hexane can be used for the synthesis of substituted peroxides, such as pyrroline, nitro, and alkenyl peroxide, which are low risk compounds with a low risk of explosion or fire due to their oxidizing properties. 3-Benzyl-
