- 2-Propanol, 1-chloro-3-((phenylmethyl)amino)-
1-(Benzylamino)-3-chloropropan-2-ol (1BPC) is an anti-cancer drug that acts by targeting the cells of hematopoietic origin. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro and suppress tumor growth in vivo. 1BPC has also been shown to decrease nerve injury and pain in a rat model. In addition, 1BPC inhibits inflammatory reactions by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis, which is thought to be due to its coordination complex with tartrate. Furthermore, 1BPC has been shown to be effective against breast cancer xenografts in mice. However, this drug is not effective in treating acute kidney injury or other types of kidney disease. This may be due to the fact that it targets only cells of hematopoietic origin and does not affect other types of cells such as those found in the kidney.
