Description :
2,6-Diethynylpyridine is a monomer with two ethynyl groups that can form hydrogen bonds. It has been shown to be able to complex with palladium and copper ions. 2,6-Diethynylpyridine can also form coordination compounds with metal ions such as Cu(II), Au(III), Ag(I), and Hg(II). These complexes have been shown to have bioactive properties. 2,6-Diethynylpyridine is also used in polymer concentration processes, where it is used as an extractant for polymers such as polyethylene glycols and polyvinyl alcohols.
