Description :
6-Bromo-2-naphthalenemethanol is a fluorescent probe that is used for the visualization of β-amyloid, a protein that has been found to be associated with Alzheimer's disease. It can be used as a marker for β-amyloid plaques in the brain and spinal cord, as well as other tissues. 6-Bromo-2-naphthalenemethanol binds reversibly to β-amyloid and will fluoresce when exposed to ultraviolet light. This probe has been shown to bind preferentially to the soluble form of β-amyloid, which may lead to better visualization of this compound in tissue sections.
