The antimicrobial activity of 1-carbamoylpyrrolidine-2-carboxylic acid is due to its ability to inhibit microbial cell parameters, such as axial rotation and hydrolysis. This compound also has the ability to bind to benzyl groups with a high affinity and inhibit microbial growth by interfering with protein synthesis. Furthermore, 1-carbamoylpyrrolidine-2-carboxylic acid is inexpensively synthesized from benzoic acid.
