Description :
(+)-±-Methyl-4-carboxyphenylglycine is an amino acid that has been shown to potentiate the effects of glutamate on the extracellular calcium ion concentration. It acts as a noncompetitive inhibitor of glutamate receptors. The drug has been shown to be effective in degenerative diseases and depression, but its use is limited by its toxicity to the liver.
