Informations sur le produit
Orthobunyaviruses such as Kairi virus (KRIV) are important animal pathogens. KRIV has mainly been detected in South and Central America with little overlap in geographical range with the related Orthobunyavirus, Cache Valley virus (CVV). Kairi virus is the fifth Bunyamwera serogroup virus that was isolated from livestock and wild animals.
As a member of the Bunyaviridae family of viruses (now known as the Peribunyaviridae viruses) KRIV is not known to cause clinical disease symptoms in animals or humans, despite between 6-18% of humans and up to 48% of horses having antibodies against KRIV. KRIV was originally isolated from mosquito species in Trinidad including Aedes, Wyeomia, Culex and Psorophora spp. and is known to be composed of three genome segments. These segments are known as the L (large), M (medium) and S (small) segments and are encapsidated by the nucleocapsid (N) protein. Through association with the viral RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (the L protein), the L, M and S segments form ribonucleoprotein complexes (RNP). These RNPs exist within a lipid envelope which also contain the two viral glycoproteins, Gn and Gc.
