Ethyl 5-acetyl-2-methylthiazole-4-carboxylate is an antimicrobial agent that belongs to the class of thiourea. It inhibits bacterial growth by binding to DNA and RNA and inhibiting protein synthesis. Ethyl 5-acetyl-2-methylthiazole-4-carboxylate has a spectrum of antibacterial activity that includes both Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria. This compound is also active against Mycobacterium tuberculosis, a causative agent of tuberculosis.
