It can also be used for kinetic studies, such as determining the rate at which styrene is metabolized by lipase. This compound has been used to label DNA with fluorescence techniques and has also been immobilized on mesoporous silica nanoparticles with propionate groups for use as a fluorophore in immunoassays.
